I am a colo-rectal cancer survivor! As with people who have irritable bowl syndrome and similar diseases, people like me spend a LOT more time on the toilet than others do. Without getting into the details, for people like us this is a HUGE life changer and has eliminated a lot of pain.

I have owned this product for over two years now and am delighted with it. Hence the 5 star review. It's not without a few nits and, frankly, it has too many gizmos and gadgets. I would have preferred a cheaper unit without all the unnecessary functions. A few points:

B. WHAT I REALLY LIKE: It just plain works and works well! I also really like how the cover doesn't slam shut. It goes down slowly. A silly thing, but we have two small kids at home. Our other toilet is constantly slamming down when our kids use it. This one is blessedly quiet when putting the lid down!

A. SUGGESTED IMPROVEMENTS: Two things bug me about this unit in my daily use:

1. THE ON/OFF BUTTONS SHOULD BE SEPARATE FROM THE REST: The only buttons I press on a daily basis are the on and the off buttons, yet they are mixed in with the other buttons that are rarely used. In fact, once you set the other settings, I rarely every use the other buttons. So to make this easier for actual day to day use, the on and off buttons should be bigger and set apart from the rest.

2. THE AUTO-OFF FUNCTION: This is the ultimate in frustration. The thing is always shutting off after two minutes. Yes, I understand that for most people this is probably fine. But, for those of us with 'special' needs, why oh why is there not at least a setting to turn this off and let us choose when to shut it off? I can't tell you how many times I've had to start it up again after it shut itself off. And there is a good wait between, because the unit cleans itself and then retracts then comes out again, leaving the user have to sit there and wait. Either get rid of the auto-off or allow it to be switched off as a setting.

If the two changes above were made it would be a near perfect product.

C. NOT NEEDED: If I were buying again, I'd spend less and get a unit without these features:

1. HEATED SEAT: I live in Canada so you'd think I would like this, but our condo is kept warm all year. I don't need this. A couple time it was put on by accident it has freaked out guests. Depending on how you set it, it can get really warm - almost hot! And with kids pushing buttons, I've been surprised several times when sitting down, literally, on 'the hot seat' :)

2. DRYER FAN THING: What the heck is this? I tried it a few times when I first installed the unit and its pointless. I don't like it for the same reason I don't like hand dryers in public bathrooms. It just takes too long. I'm not going to sit there for 3 to 5 minutes to let this thing blow-dry my hiney. Life is too short. There is a perfectly good drying device right there - toilet paper. A quick dab and you are done. While this 'sounds nice' as a marketing point, I can't imagine anyone in real life would want to sit there as long as it takes to actually dry your bumm. A waste of space and cost.

So, ya, I have nits, but if you are someone who has some disease or condition that requires you to use the toilet frequently, this (or something like it) is literally a life changer! Makes living with my condition far far easier. So much so that I kind of dread leaving our home for very long! If you don't have this kind of disease you'll probably not understand and won't want to know the details. But for someone like me, if you need to use the toilet frequently, buy a quality bidet like this one. YOU WILL NEVER REGRET IT!!
