This is Part 2 of a multi-part educational series on the nesting of mourning doves, caring for the eggs and raising of the young. The nest is located in a flower pot I have hanging from the eaves of my garden shed. The filming is done with an inexpensive USB webcam and an old laptop inside the shed. This episode shows care and incubation of the eggs from Day 2 thru Day 10 since nesting began on August 5, 2014. Teachers, please feel free to use this video content in the classroom.

The parents take very good care of the eggs. They take turns guarding the nest, with Dad taking the noon to 6pm shift, and Mom taking the rest, including all night. They never leave the eggs unattended for more than a few minutes, and they turn the eggs every hour or 2 as they sit on them.
