So, I recently jumped behind the wheel of the new Polo once again, but this time around in the R-line trim.

The pricing is quite hard to fathom, starting from R445 500 before options, I feel like that price would’ve been more suitable to the GTI, but hey such is life.

Looking at it from a different perspective though, the new VW Golf is only offered as a GTI in South Africa, so there’s no cheaper TSI alternative, so the Polo R-line fills in that gap quite well.

If I was in the market for the new Polo, I’d get the Life trim, use the extra money needed for the R-line to spec out the Life, add features like the IQ lights, Bose sound system and so on.
