It's winter in Michigan and my Toro CCR Powerlite snowblower with a Tecumseh 2 stroke 3 hp engine won't start. I suspect the carburetor, so I am taking the carb apart to inspect it, clean it, and change the needle and seat. These Tecumseh carburetors have a few oddities to watch out for. The needle is solid and the seat is removable Viton. Many carburetors have a Viton tipped needle and solid seat. I will show how the seat is replaced. There is a coil type bumper spring on the pivot pin for the float. Care is required to remove it without losing it, and then to reinstall it correctly with the spring tangs in the right place. I'll show you how to install the spring. The fuel needle has a clip that must be pointed in the correct direction, and finally the float bowl must be reinstalled in the correct orientation for the float to operate correctly.
I was able to make the carburetor repair rather quickly and get the engine running again before the next snowstorm.
