(7) Sicily Villa Restoration in Italy: Roof Exploration & Garden Cleanup

🚪 Exploring More of My Sicilian Villa Restoration Journey! 🚪 In this week's episode, I tackle several new projects as I continue the transformation of my Sicily Homestead! From securing the property to climbing onto the roof for the first time, this DIY renovation journey has it all! 🌿

First up, I arrive at the property with my new triple extension ladders, setting up the stabilizing bar and getting ready for the tasks ahead. I take a moment to show off the beautiful olive trees 🌳 in the back garden before sealing up some pesky cracks and holes above the kitchen window and in the small bedroom with gaffer tape, preventing rodents, insects, and even geckos from sneaking back into this Off-Grid Sicily villa! 🦎

🍽️ After a hard morning's work, it's time for a quick lunch: delicious cantaloupe melon wrapped in prosciutto and drizzled with aged balsamic vinegar—a perfect taste of Italian homestead living! I then assemble my new wheelbarrow, ready to tackle some heavier tasks.

🚛 Using the wheelbarrow, I move an old, heavy fridge out to the back garden until I can find a suitable place to recycle it. Next, I get busy collecting loose rocks, rubble, a dead tree, and other rubbish from around the garden in the intense afternoon heat, clearing up this Off Grid Italy property one step at a time! ☀️

🌵 As I work my way down the garden wall, I collect prickly pears and leaves that had been hanging over from my neighbor's side. While I’m keen to try these delicious fruits eventually, I want to avoid getting spiked while working in the garden! Have you tried prickly pears before? Let me know in the comments!

🐱 I then try feeding the local stray cat with some biscuits, but she might be pregnant—many of you mentioned this in the comments! It’s always great to hear your thoughts, so keep them coming!

One of the highlights of this week was finally getting to climb onto the roof! 🏡 I’ve been eager to see what potential lies up there, and the countryside views did not disappoint. It was the perfect spot to reflect on the work done so far and to see the condition of the roof for this Sicily Villa Renovation.

After a quick snack from a local bakery, I take you on a brief tour inside the property to showcase how clean it is now.
