Used a tile repair kit and scrap tile to fix/disguise a miscut floor tile near the base of a toilet.

After installing new tile floor in our bathroom and while reinstalling the toilet, we discovered there was a miscut tile behind the toilet.

While researching possible solutions, I couldn’t find much on my specific problem. A lot of what I found on tile installation mistakes or damage involved replacing the whole tile or how to avoid such issues.

However, by the time we noticed the miscut tile, removing and replacing a tile wasn’t a project I wanted to tackle quite yet. Fortunately, it was in an inconspicuous spot behind the toilet, so I decided to experiment with other ways to hide it until I’m ready to replace the tile.

My idea was to use an extra piece of tile to fill the gap as much as possible leaving something closer to a crack or large chip. Then use a tile repair kit meant for disguising such damage to make the new “crack” less noticeable.

While I’m not sure how good this would look in an open area, I feel like it resulted in a successful disguise!
