Avoid this costly mistake or your beautiful green wood turned bowl can split and crack like a fault line. Wall thickness is critical in bowlturning, especially when rough turning for twice turned bowls. I didn't do this for one of these bowls and it split horribly. I believe I will be able to salvage it with some black CA glue or 5 minute epoxy but I prefer clean lines on my wooden bowls. So follow along as I show you how and how not to rough out a couple of sycamore bowls. Make sure to stick around to the end where I discuss and show different results and ways to seal the end grain on bowls once they've been turned.
