All over the world, fertile land is disappearing, swallowed up by the desert.
Africa has been hard hit.

In the space of a century, the Sahara has advanced southwards by 250 km, along a 6,000 km front. The land became barren, and populations were forced to flee.

In Morocco and Senegal, a decisive and stubborn battle is being waged against desertification. Oases are being rehabilitated and a great green wall is being built.
