This introductory training is designed for analysts at Statistical Analysis Centers. It focused on the fundamentals of SQL to work effectively with FBI National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) data. No prior experience with SQL or database management is required, and participants will use Microsoft Access as the primary interface for learning.

Throughout the course, participants will gain hands-on experience in:

Basic querying techniques to retrieve specific data from NIBRS datasets
Cleaning, standardizing, and aggregating data to support accurate reporting and analysis
Connecting to relational databases and navigating complex database structures without the use of
codebooks or guides
Automating processes to streamline the creation of recurring analytical reports

By the end of the course, attendees will be equipped with practical skills to efficiently manage and analyze NIBRS data, enabling them to produce timely, data-driven insights with minimal manual effort.
