If "the villain's origin story" was a song it would be this one I guess and I'm not mad at the idea at all! This was better than great! And even though I came in expecting to like it, it ended up being even better than I had anticipated. The balance in this song is perfection, the angsty, breathy whispers, the more powerful and pained rock chorus, the pointed, tortured raps and the softer angelic vocals!!! The laughing bit is a bonus!
Their acting game is amazing too! They look tortured and hurt for sure but they're this underlying sense of if you're pushing them too much they'll snap and become insane?! I love the evolution of the lyrics ! Them feeling hurt and not knowing how to move on, to accepting the pain and then owning it at the end with that lyric "I like being bad". This is so good and genius!
This really feels to me like they truly found themselves musically and conceptually and they're owning this entirely! This is IT for me and I cannot wait to receive my albums!
