This week on America’s Black Forum: Poet DJ Rogers struggled with Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) as a child, until a third-grade teacher introduced him to the poetry of Langston Hughes. He is now the first poet laureate for Durham, North Carolina. We talk to Desmond Blair, a gifted artist who overcame the obstacle of having a limb difference to learn how to paint. Haitian-born Nicole Laborde shares her story of coming to this country as a teenager with only a suitcase and a dream; fast-forward to today and she’s the CEO of two successful businesses - Ideal Home Healthcare Services and the Ideal School of Allied Healthcare.
