Robert Eggers is known for his historical films, translating folklore from artefacts to the screen. His films inhabit a world where any belief people had at the time is as true as they believe it to be. As such, his latest film, The Northman, puts such viking values of vengeance, battle and violence at the top of its priorities. In doing so, we are immersed into the viking world, a world where vengeance is above all.
