How to run or semi-running cabanas and turns around caroms in 3-cushion billiards.

In this video we will see the stroke technique, we include a secret that can help you improve your stroke.

We will also look at a very important concept called effect gain.

Finally we will present 2 systems to play this kind of caroms.

Let's start with the stroke technique.

It is always said that to stroke run or semi-running caroms, we must play with a high and flat cue, a penetrating and advanced stroke.

And without a doubt that is correct.

But if you also add the following two tips, it will make it easier for you to stroke this kind of caroms:

First: Grip the cue but so far away, this will make the tip of the cue go up at the end of the stroke.

Second: Loosen your hand, thus increasing the separation between the palm of your hand and the cue. This extra space will help delay the braking process that naturally occurs towards the end of the stroke.

Let's continue with a very important concept called effect gain.

Let's first look at the normal trajectory when playing with effect 4.
We know that if we apply 4 effects, we will achieve a 2 diamond opening, playing from long rail to long rail.

But when we apply effect 4, and make a full ball hit we see an additional opening of 2 diamonds.

This occurs because by hitting a full ball, ball one experiences a phenomenon known as spin gain.

Hitting a full ball will double the effect applied to ball one.

In the table shown on the screen, we show how the spin gain varies as the ball hit decreases.

With what has been seen previously, we proceed to formulate a system, derived from the classic system, but which includes a variable for the effect gain, which we have called adjustment.

As shown on the screen, this system has the basic numbering of the classic system, however we have made 3 modifications to incorporate the effect gain.

First: For attack values up to 50, we must add an adjustment value, equivalent to 10, to the start value.

Second: For attack values greater than 50, we must add an additional 10 points to the value of the adjustment, obtaining a total adjustment of 20 points.

Third: Due to the great rotation that ball one acquires, we divide the value of the formula by two to obtain the value of the arrival in the third cushion.

Next, we present a system for semi-running shots, that is, when we make a fewer ball hit.

Before looking at the semi-running system, let's see how ball hit works in this type of position.

The formula shown in the graph tells us that if we subtract the value of the angle of inclination that we want ball one to follow, from the value 12, we will obtain the value of the ball hit.

Before presenting the semi-running system, it is important to take into account the adjustment values table shown on the screen.

Remember that for attack values greater than 50, we must add an additional 10 points to the value of the adjustment.

This occurs because the numbering scale of the long attack cushion varies from the value 50.

In the diagram shown on the screen, we present the semi-running system for a ball hit value of 10, which has an adjustment value of 7.5

When balls one and two are facing each other, it is suggested to perform the calculation with a ball hit value of 10 and then increase or decrease the ball hit accordingly.

When balls one and two are tilted, it is suggested to perform the calculation with a ball hit value, which makes ball one go parallel to the short rail, as seen in the ball hit calculation, and then increase or decrease ball hit as appropriate.
