After scuba diving in Sardinia, I decided to make a replica model of the local lighthouse. I designed it in Autodesk Fusion 360 using a canvas of a picture to get the correct reference. I then 3D printed it on my home machine and painted it (along with wiring in an LED light and resistor for a 9 volt battery). To find how the shadows looked on the exact day, I went over to University College London to test the model in their artificial light dome!

They wired over 800 LED bluetooth controlled lights and a massive moving mirror to represent the sun. We can then put in the coordinates of anywhere in the world on any day, and see what the shadows will do to our object.
