Kaziranga National Park a world heritage site is famous for the Great Indian one horned rhinoceros. It is located in the Golaghat and Nagaon district of Assam. The landscape of Kaziranga is of sheer forest, tall elephant grass, rugged reeds, marshes & shallow pools.
Kaziranga National Park is one of the last areas in eastern India undisturbed by human presence. It is inhabited by the world's largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses, as well as many mammals, including tigers, elephants, panthers and bears, wild water buffaloes, wild boar, deer, and thousands of birds.

Fauna in Kaziranga National Park
The land of Kaziranga boasts the largest population of greater one-horned rhinos and wild water buffaloes. Apart from them, the national park is home to Royal Bengal Tigers, swap deer, Asian elephants which along with one-horned rhino and wild water buffaloes form the Big Five. Kaziranga is also inhabited by 30+ mammalian species out of which 15 species of animals come under the threatened category. The national park is also rich in the population of avifauna.

Best Time to Visit
Kaziranga Park remain closed from 01 May till 31 Oct every year for the visitors. Therefore
November to April is the best time to visit Kaziranga National Park.

Summer (April to May): During this time of the year, the climate remains dry and windy; one can find animals around the water bodies.

Monsoon (June to September): From June till September, the region receives heavy rain, approximately 2,220 millimeters (87 in); thus the climate remains hot and humid. The park remains closed from May to October due to warnings of Brahmaputra river floods.

Winter (November to February): Perhaps the best time to visit the Kaziranga National Park as the climate is mild and dry. Chances of spotting rhinos are more in winter as the grass burn off and the background becomes clearer.
