As a part of my architectural school's curriculum, I'd visited Benaras last winter. This is a compilation of the witnessed religious, architectural and cultural aspects of
It was more than 9 months ago and yet is so lively in my head. If you ever happen to visit Benaras, start with the Kashi Vishwanath Arti at 3 AM (which I have not included as there were no cameras or mobile ohones allowed), followed by Assi ghat Arti along with the morning programme (the background vocals at the starting of the video is a real time recording done at 5 AM). From there, take a boat ride to view the sunrise as you move on to the Dashashwamedh ghat which is always bustling with all kinds of activities. This boat ride is going to be the best part of your trip.
Walk around, hear people uttering 'Banaras' 10,000 times a day, eat the delicious Chaat, visit the old temples and havelis with breathtaking aesthetics. Marvel at the beautiful Strands of Silk being woven in the smallest if houses.
Keep your evening reserved for the Ganga Arti and a boat ride viewing all the Ghats by the river.
Dont forget to be at peace.
