Brothers-in-arms Orion Pax and D-16 become sworn enemies Optimus Prime and Megatron.

Transformers One is a 2024 American animated science fiction action film based on Hasbro's Transformers toy line. It was directed by Josh Cooley from a screenplay by Eric Pearson and the writing duo of Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, based on a story by Barrer and Ferrari. The ensemble voice cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm. The film depicts the origins and early relationship of Optimus Prime and Megatron and how they forever changed the fate of Cybertron, the home planet of the Transformers. It is the franchise's first theatrical animated feature film since The Transformers: The Movie (1986).

On Cybertron, Energon miner Orion Pax sneaks into an archive and watches a recording about the creation of the first thirteen Primes, who were said to have perished in a war with the alien Quintessons many years ago, with the mystical artifact known as the Matrix of Leadership being lost in their battle. Orion is caught by security, though his friend, D-16, rescues him. Meanwhile, Sentinel Prime, the head of Cybertron, speaks about fighting the Quintessons and finding the Matrix of Leadership, the absence of which has caused Cybertron's Energon rivers to dry up, which the Cybertronians need to survive. After an explosion in the mines traps Jazz, Orion and D-16 attempt to save him, causing a cave-in that leads to fellow worker Elita-1's firing.

At the Iacon 5000 race, Orion and D-16 secretly enter, but lose and are assigned to smelting duty at Sublevel 50, where they meet B-127. They also discover a chip with a message from Alpha Trion, one of the Primes, revealing a map to his location on the planet's surface. The three hitchhike on a train to the surface, inadvertently bringing Elita with them, and eventually discover Trion and the corpses of the Primes. Trion reveals that Sentinel betrayed the Primes, allied with the Quintessons, and has secretly been removing transformation cogs from bots. Alpha then gives Orion's team the fallen Primes' cogs, allowing them to transform, but a group of Sentinel's soldiers arrive, capturing Alpha Trion and bringing him to Sentinel, who in turn kills him.

The team plans to expose Sentinel, while D-16 desires to kill him. They are captured by the former members of Cybertron's High Guard, led by Starscream, who refuse to help. D-16 seizes control of the High Guard by attacking Starscream, but Sentinel's forces arrest them. During the battle, the chip is destroyed, and Orion and Elita are buried under debris, while D-16 and B-127 are captured.

Orion, encouraged by Elita, rallies the uncaptured High Guard. D-16, tortured by Sentinel, is branded with Megatronus Prime's symbol, and learns that Sentinel stole Megatronus's transformation cog. Orion leads a rebellion in Iacon with the help of his fellow miners, exposing Sentinel's corruption. D-16 attempts to execute Sentinel, but accidentally shoots Orion in the process; he chooses not to save Orion and lets him fall into Cybertron's core. D-16 proceeds to kill Sentinel, take his cog, and declare himself the ruler of Cybertron, renaming himself Megatron, while the High Guard then begin ransacking Iacon.

Orion is revived by the Primes, receiving the Matrix of Leadership and becoming Optimus Prime. He returns to stop Megatron's destruction in a huge battle, exiling him and the High Guard. Enraged that Optimus has been given the Matrix, Megatron swears revenge. The Matrix restores transformation cogs to the bots of Iacon, Energon flows again, and Optimus christens his followers as Autobots, while Megatron renames the High Guard into the Decepticons, seeking control of Cybertron.
